The Opportunity

You will play an important role in delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across a range of Engineering qualifications from Level 1 to Level 5. You will use your strong engineering background to help our learners develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours needed to progress into industry or higher education. Your expertise will ideally include Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drawing, CAD (Autodesk), Materials, Measurement and Inspection Techniques, and Engineering Mathematics, including calculus and applied principles.

You will teach across a variety of full-time and part-time programmes for both 16–18 and adult learners, bringing learning to life through engaging lessons that blend theory with hands-on practice to meet awarding body requirements. Working closely with the Course Leader and the wider teaching team, you will contribute to a well-structured and effective curriculum that inspires learners and prepares them for real-world engineering environments.

Alongside your teaching, you will play an active part in shaping the curriculum by reviewing, planning and developing courses and new delivery methods. You will design schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching materials that motivate learners and encourage achievement. You will also assess student work, provide constructive feedback and track progress to help learners reach their full potential.

You will be involved in student recruitment, including interviews, assessments and promotional events, supporting the department’s growth and success. Your role will also include providing academic and pastoral support to guide, challenge and inspire learners throughout their studies. By creating a positive and supportive classroom environment, you will help maintain high levels of engagement, attendance and achievement.

With your enthusiasm for engineering and commitment to continuous improvement, you will contribute to the ongoing success and development of the Engineering department, helping learners gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their future careers.

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and knowledgeable engineering professional with a passion for teaching and developing the next generation of engineers. You will bring strong technical expertise along with a genuine commitment to supporting learners to reach their full potential.

You will have a solid background in engineering, ideally with specialisms in areas such as Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drawing, CAD (Autodesk), Materials, Measurement and Inspection Techniques, and Engineering Mathematics (including calculus and applied principles). Your relevant experience of working in the engineering industry will allow you to bring lessons to life and link theory to real-world applications.

You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised teaching qualification, and you will have experience of teaching, training or mentoring others in an educational or workplace setting. You will be able to motivate students to attend and achieve, creating engaging lessons that inspire learning and encourage progression. Your supportive approach will include giving clear and constructive feedback to guide learners’ skills and understanding.

Your strong verbal and written communication skills will allow you to work effectively with colleagues, employers and learners of all ages and backgrounds. You will also contribute to curriculum development, support recruitment activities, and promote positive learner outcomes.
