The role
As an Armourer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you’ll play a critical role in supporting defence capability by ensuring weapons and mechanical systems are maintained to the highest standard. This is a hands-on engineering role where your expertise directly contributes to operational readiness and safety. You’ll work on a variety of equipment, from small arms to armoured turret systems, developing your technical skills in a highly specialised environment while building a rewarding career in defence engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Inspect, service and overhaul small arms and weapon systems to maintain operational performance
2. Carry out repairs and fault diagnosis on armoured turret systems and mechanical equipment
3. Manufacture and assemble components to support production and maintenance activities
4. Conduct examinations and quality checks in line with engineering standards and procedures
5. Support continuous improvement by following best practice and maintaining a safe working environment
This is a full-time role based onsite at Lulworth. You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday.
Essential experience of the Armourer:
6. Demonstrating experience completing weapon equipment courses or strong, hands-on familiarity with military or defence-related equipment
Qualifications for the Armourer:
7. Level 3 qualification (RQF/NVQ) in an Advanced Manufacturing or Engineering discipline (such as an advanced apprenticeship or equivalent)
8. A full, valid UK driving licence
