Overview
There is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established Developmental Team within the Neurodevelopmental and Neurodisability (NDND) Care Group in the paediatric Directorate at St George's Hospital. The postholder will undertake regular Developmental Clinics and Looked After Children (LAC) Clinics as part of plans to meet rising service needs and to replace a retiring staff member. The post holder will work alongside the Named Doctor and Nurse for Looked After Children and the wider LAC team, delivering high-quality care and demonstrating effective leadership within the team.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinics for the assessment and management of children with suspected neurodevelopmental delay or disorders such as ADHD or ASD.
* LAC – Provide clinics for IHA and RHA services for Looked after Children and produce timely reports for the same.
CPD, Audit & Clinical Governance
* Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity.
* Support ongoing audit within the care group.
* Observe the clinical governance requirements of the post.
* The precise job plan and clinics will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant and will be negotiated with the relevant Clinical Leads and Care Group Lead.
* Job plans are reviewed annually through the job planning process at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Person Specification
Essential
Qualifications and Training
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to ST6 level or above in relevant Paediatric specialty: Community Child Health, Neurodisability, Child Mental Health or General Paediatrics.
* Full GMC registration and licence to practise, or be eligible if currently overseas.
* MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.
* Level 3 Child Safeguarding training.
Experience
* Experience in Community Paediatrics, Neurodevelopmental and LAC assessments.
* Ability to manage clinical care of complex patients.
* Audit/QIP: understanding of audit principles and a lead role in at least two audit/QIP projects relevant to this post.
Skills
* Effective communication and teamwork.
* Ability to conduct comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments with consideration of psychosocial factors.
* Ability to produce comprehensive reports within defined timescales.
* Ability to liaise with professionals and agencies to ensure appropriate treatment and support.
* Ability to review a child and write SEND/EHCP reports.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of recognised tools for the assessment of developmental disorders (e.g., Griffiths Scales, SOGS).
* Understanding of multiagency safeguarding.
Other
* Active involvement in Continuing Professional Development.
* Flexibility, adaptability, thoroughness and resilience.
* Understanding of equality and diversity and its impact on this post.
* Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
Qualifications & Experience (Desirable)
* Level 3 Child Safeguarding training; other LAC-specific training; additional paediatric qualifications.
* Publications or presentations at national/international level; experience in Neurodevelopment/Neurodisability/Neurology; LAC service delivery expertise.
