Junior Electrical Design Engineer
Locations: Tewkesbury, Redditch, Worcester, Hereford, Evesham
Salary: £30,000 – £38,000 (DOE)
We are looking for a Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team within an automation-focused environment. This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in electrical design, automation systems, and project delivery, with structured support, mentoring, and training.
You will work closely with senior engineers and project teams, contributing to the design, development, and commissioning of electrical and automation systems while developing your technical capability and industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities

Support the design of electrical and automation systems, including incoming power, power distribution, control panels, and HMIs.

Assist with ensuring systems comply with relevant safety and industry standards.
*
Produce and update electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation under guidance.
*
Support commissioning activities and on-site electrical requirements where required.
*
Assist with troubleshooting electrical and control system issues.
*
Work alongside senior engineers to identify opportunities for system improvements and learning.
*
Support component selection and procurement activities.
*
Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and commissioning engineers.
*
Maintain strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn across all stages of a project.
Experience & Skills Required
*
Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
*
Some experience or exposure to EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical (academic or industry).
*
An interest in industrial automation and control systems (PLC/HMI exposure beneficial).
*
Any familiarity with Beckhoff automation technology is advantageous but not essential.
*
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
*
Eagerness to learn and develop within a supportive engineering environment.
