An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse at St Mark’s Hospital—an internationally recognised centre of excellence within London North West University Healthcare (LNWUH) NHS Trust. This role offers an exceptional pathway into the specialist field of IBD nursing, providing the experience, knowledge and clinical exposure needed to progress toward an IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) position. The position is based to work in the IBD Advanced Therapy Service.
As a key member of the IBD Nursing Team, you will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient‑centred care for individuals living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist skills within a renowned service dedicated to advancing IBD care.
Main duties of the job
* Assess, plan and implement patient care, providing specialist and advanced clinical management, education, information and support to patients and their families.
* Provide nursing care and support in the administration of treatments within the IBD day‑care unit.
* Support the IBD CNS team in providing a unified approach to high‑standard patient care within the clinical area.
* Take charge and act as deputy for the clinical area in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility.
* Support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills and autonomy.
* Work collaboratively and cooperatively with members of the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of patients and their families, ensuring safe and effective delivery of care for IBD patients.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Registered General Nurse (RGN)
* Active Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration
* BSc in GI Nursing or IBD
* IBD module completed
* Working towards MSc (optional)
Knowledge and experience
* Experience in General Surgery (GI) nursing
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of current clinical professional issues
* Experience with IBD patients
* Presentation at local or regional level
* Counselling skills
Skills, abilities and attributes
* Ability to work within a team
* Willingness to progress with the role
* Familiarity with the IBD national network
