**Job Title: Machine Operator /Deputy key op
**Location: Ilkeston
**Reports To: Production Manager
**Employment Type: Full-Time

We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Machine Operator / shift supervisor(potential leading to key Operator) to join our team. This is a key role for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead by example. You'll undergo an intensive 6-month training program to become technically competent in our processes, equipment, and standards.
This role combines technical ability with leadership responsibility — perfect for someone who's not afraid to get stuck in, whether it's solving a mechanical issue or sweeping the floor and leading by example. Ideally have experience operating/setting machinery (ideally in packaging industries, like conversion or bagging.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate/maintain production machinery to high productions standards, quality and efficiency.
* Lead your shift team effectively, promoting a culture of accountability and cooperation.
* Support training and onboarding of new team members.
* Work closely with key ops/ management to report issues and suggest improvements
*Complete traceability and documentation to the highest standard.
* Complete flexible tasks as required — no job is too big or small.
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical or operational problems.
* Ensure health, safety, and quality standards are met consistently.
* Maintain a clean and organized working environment.

* Proven reliability — excellent timekeeping and attendance.
* Strong, positive attitude and willingness to muck in.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Technically minded and able to learn quickly.
* Comfortable taking initiative and solving problems.
* Capable of leading a small team and managing shift tasks and delegation etc
* Willingness to do both technical and manual/menial work.
* Physically fit and comfortable with active, on-your-feet work.

Pay: £12.83-£17.00 per hour
