Role Purpose:
In line with our vision and mission, to lead the coordination and implementation of membership onboarding, engagement and retention and to support acquisition initiatives, campaigns, and projects for ADBA. The goal is to increase the size and value of the membership base, increase tenure and grow lifetime value. The successful candidate for the Membership Development Manager role will have a proven track record in membership management and marketing, with specialised expertise in executing effective email marketing campaigns, building strong industry knowledge, networking and relationship-building skills, financial acumen, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
Key responsibilities:
Element Description
Member acquisition: Own the acquisition of AD plant operators within the UK, working with internal and external sales resources and marketing teams to produce and implement sales propositions. Assist the sales and marketing teams in developing and implementing strategies to attract new members across all sectors. Collaborate with marketing teams to create compelling materials highlighting the benefits of membership,
Member retention: Establish and nurture strong relationships with existing ADBA members to ensure satisfaction, gaining insights into issues affecting them and feeding back to internal teams to resolve.
Communication and outreach: Act as liaison between the association and its members, addressing enquiries and concerns in a timely, professional manner. Develop and execute communication plans to keep members informed about industry updates, association activities and business opportunities.
Event planning: Assist in the co-ordination and execution of member-only events to facilitate member interaction and promote industry knowledge sharing. Collaborate with
other internal teams to ensure these events align with the association’s objectives, and provide value to members.
Reporting & data management: Help to maintain an accurate and up-to-date membership database, utilize technology and software tools to streamline membership tracking, administration and communication. Work closely with finance and marketing teams to manage membership renewals. Generate reports on membership trends and engagement levels. Conduct periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement in the membership proposition and benefits
Additional responsibilities: Regularly update social media platforms with relevant content, news and updates. Engage members and the broader biogas community through owned and earned media channels to foster a sense of community and grow ADBA brand visibility
What we require:
· 3-5 years’ experience in a membership manager role within a trade association or other B2B membership-based organization, or similar experience as a CRM/customer success/marketing manager within a recurring revenue business (e.g. media subscriptions)
· Proven track record of successful customer acquisition, engagement and retention
· Client facing experience, with daily outreach and meetings being scheduled
· Experience developing new business opportunities for existing and potential members
· Proficiency in MS Office, database and CRM software tools e.g. Workbooks, Salesforce
· Strategic and customer-first mindset with strong commercial awareness.
· Demonstrable experience in building and developing relationships.
· Excellent networking, communication and negotiation skills.
· Commitment to sustainability and alignment with our industry mission.
· Self-starter able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
