Finance Officer

37.5 hours per week – Band 3 Development Post.

We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our Finance Team based in Barnsley. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team responsible for supporting the Trusts Care Groups, delivering high quality and timely financial management services to all budget holders.

Working as an integral member of the Finance Team, the Finance Officer will organise personal workload to meet all relevant financial timetables. The post holder will support team members with forecasting, costing, budget setting and expenditure analysis.

Main duties of the job

The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Management Accountants Team delivering a high quality and timely financial management service to budget holders within the Care Groups.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role. We accept applications from candidates who can prove their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes. Special Knowledge/Skills

* Band 3
* Broad understanding of day to day Finance functions.
* Able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
* Able to provide reliable, relevant accurate and timely information.
* Basic Excel skills.
* Band 4
* In-depth knowledge of operation of financial ledger.
* Good understanding of budget setting processes.
* Able to produce clear working papers which can be understood by finance managers and budget holders.
* Good understanding of process and importance of monthly management accounts.
* Understanding of external reporting and accounting policies in relation to production of Annual Accounts.
* Able to develop good working relationships with budget holders and their teams provide reliable, relevant accurate and timely information.
* Band 3
* Evidence of advanced excel skills.
* Understanding of operation of financial ledger.
* Experience of simple costings and analysis for decision making.
* Band 4
* Evidence of advanced excel skills.


Qualifications

* Band 3
* A minimum of five GCSEs grade 4-9 (old system A*-C) including Maths & English.
* Studying towards AAT (intermediate level) or equivalent.

Experience

* Knowledge of finance computer systems and of other finance areas e.g. finance coding structures, petty cash, VAT, balancing and reconciling accounts/ledgers, payroll procedures and agreements.
* Band 4
* Track record of day to day management of portfolio of budgets including :
* Detailed workings on budget setting;
* Producing monthly management reports;
* Analysis and investigation of variances;
* Calculate year end forecasts on pay and non pay budgets;
* Intelligence gathering to support senior staff in analysis and decision making;
* Undertake simple costing;
* Provide first line support to budget managers;
* Support systems development and maintenance;
* Financial/System capability and design principles.
* Band 3
* Work experience within a finance department and using a financial system.
* NHS experience.

* Experience of service line reporting.
