Overview
We are looking for an Aviation Technical Publications Development/Authoring Specialist. The role comprises organizing, reviewing and editing technical publications, documentation, and related data to meet contract requirements. You will gather and analyse customer requirements, support the Publications Lead in day‑to‑day execution of publications and deliverables, generate amendments and updates, review technical support publications for grammatical and style accuracy, and recommend content edits to improve clarity and readability.
Other duties include researching source data to verify technical accuracy, participating in internal and customer reviews, maintaining document configuration, data files and archives, and ensuring First‑Time Quality compliance with the quality management system. You may interface between the customer and other key stakeholders in the Publications Lead’s absence and will be required to multitask in a diverse teaming environment.
Responsibilities
* Organise, review and edit technical publications, documentation and related data.
* Gather and analyse customer requirements to determine scope and required elements.
* Support the Publications Lead with day‑to‑day execution of publications and deliverables to meet contract requirements.
* Generate amendments and updates, and review technical support publications for grammatical errors and adherence to style guidelines.
* Establish and recommend standards and guidelines for technical document structure and format.
* Research source data to verify technical accuracy of support publications.
* Participate in reviews internally and with the customer.
* Maintain document configuration, data files and archives.
* Ensure First‑Time Quality and compliance with quality management system requirements.
* Interface between the customer and other key stakeholders as required.
* Demonstrate ability to multitask in a diverse teaming environment.
Qualifications
* Conversant with ASD S1000D and/or AVP70.
* Experience working with Simplified Technical English.
* Understanding of support engineering in a maintenance environment.
* Ability to work with cross‑functional departments to deliver outputs compliant with organisational processes and procedures.
* Focus on delivering first‑time quality with attention to detail and alignment with supporting engineering documentation.
* Previous experience in aviation technical publication authoring (essential).
* Ability to obtain UK security clearance.
* Conflict of interest assessment required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree level education in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with MoD Form 765 processes.
* Experience creating graphics (desired but not essential).
* Experience liaising with internationally located teams, including Design Organization interface.
Travel & Employment
Occasional travel may be required. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
