Your primary responsibility will beto support the preconstruction phase of projects on the SSEN ED2Framework by providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimatesand providing daytoday management support for the Estimating Teamon the ED2 Framework. You will play a crucial role in ensuring thatprojects are financially viable competitive and aligned with clientexpectations. Your expertise will help to secure profitablecontracts and deliver projects withinbudget.
Working closely with the Estimating Teamproject managers engineers designers and other stakeholders youwill analyze bid specifications drawings and project documents todevelop a thorough understanding of project requirements. This willinvolve preparing estimates from framework rates and firstprinciples and managing the Framework Estimating Team to ensurebids are developed on time and to the requiredstandard.
Duties andResponsibilities:
* CostEstimation: Preparation of Estimates from FirstPrinciples using Causeway Estimating software / and the MicrosoftOfficeSuite
* BidAnalysis: Evaluate bid specifications drawings andother project documents to develop a comprehensive understanding ofproject requirements and identify potential risks oropportunities.
* QuantityTakeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs fromarchitectural and engineering drawings to determine requiredquantities of materials labor andequipment.
* SubcontractorManagement: Where required collaborate withsubcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials andservices ensuring costeffective and timelydelivery
* CostAnalysis: Conduct cost analysis of alternativematerials methods and design changes providing recommendations tooptimize project costs while maintaining qualitystandards.
* RiskAssessment: Identify potential risks anduncertainties associated with construction projects proposemitigation strategies and communicate findings to relevantparties.
* Documentation:Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimatingactivities including records of assumptions methodologies andpricingsources
* Collaboration:Work closely with Estimators project managers engineers and otherstakeholders to clarify project requirements resolve issues andensure alignment between estimated costs and projectscope
* TenderOwnership and Settlement:The Estimator will havefull responsibility for their bids and will be expected to delivera cradle to grave approach from receipt to final financialsettlement with Senior Management prior tosubmission
* SiteVisits: Attend tenderstage site visits to gatheradditional information which may affect the bid and highlight anyspecific challenges to be overcome in order to provide acompetitiveoffer.
Skills andExperience:
* Education:A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or arelated field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also beconsidered.
* Experience:Minimum of 35 years of experience as an Estimator in theconstruction industry with a strong background in estimating Power(Distribution / Transmission / Turnkey Substations / Renewables /Utilities / Framework) projects being essential. Working knowledgeof NEC3 / NEC4 / FIDIC contracts desirable. Candidate should beable to display experience in being able to manage a small butfastpaced team at a Frameworklevel.
* TechnicalSkills: Proficiency in construction estimatingsoftware (e.g. Causeway ConQuest Candy) and advanced MicrosoftExcelskills.
* AnalyticalSkills: Strong analytical and problemsolvingabilities with attention to detail and the ability to interpretcomplex project specifications anddrawings.
* CommunicationSkills: Excellent verbal and written communicationskills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internaland external stakeholders. Ability to present to mixedaudiences
* TimeManagement:Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasksmanage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in afastpacedenvironment.
* TeamPlayer: Ability to work effectively in a teamenvironment fostering collaboration and building positiverelationships with colleagues and projectstakeholders.
