Salary & Working Hours
* Salary Range: £32,000 – £38,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience
* Hours: 40 hours per week
* Working Pattern:
o Core shifts typically worked Monday to Friday
o Flexibility required to support:
+ Early / late shifts where necessary
+ Planned maintenance shutdowns
+ Occasional out‑of‑hours or on‑call support (if applicable)
Role Purpose
* To deliver safe, compliant, and reliable maintenance services across Hull CDC.
* To act as the site electrical lead, while providing multi‑skilled engineering support to ensure service continuity.
* To support patient‑critical diagnostic services in a live healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical (Primary Skill – Core Accountability)
* Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across the site, ensuring tasks are completed safely, on time, and to the required standard.
* Undertake fault‑finding, diagnosis, repair and replacement on electrical systems and associated equipment, including:
o LV distribution, lighting, and small power
o Emergency lighting systems (functional checks and defect rectification)
o Fixed electrical equipment and building services interfaces
* Support LV switchgear operations where competent, including safe isolation, lock‑off/tag‑out, proving dead, and safe reinstatement of supplies in line with site procedures.
* Support electrical testing and inspection activities (as applicable to site), including coordination and/or completion of minor works certification, EICR support, and PAT coordination.
* Complete minor installation works and small upgrades where required (e.g., containment adjustments, accessory changes, replacements), ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and site standards.
* Act as the site electrical point of contact for audits, inspections, and contractor activities; ensure electrical works are correctly planned, controlled and documented.
Multi‑Skilled Engineering (Secondary But Essential)
* Deliver first‑line mechanical and fabric support, including:
o Minor plumbing repairs (leaks, taps, valves, sanitary fittings)
o Basic HVAC support (first‑line fault finding, filters, belts, temperature issues)
o Pumps, plant checks, and visual inspections
* Undertake building fabric works, such as:
o Doors, locks, ceilings, signage, minor repairs
* Escalate specialist works appropriately and support contractors.
Healthcare Environment Support
* Work safely in clinical, patient‑occupied, and diagnostic areas.
* Liaise with clinical teams to minimise disruption to:
o Imaging suites (MRI, CT, X‑ray)
o Treatment and consultation spaces
* Follow infection control, permit‑to‑work, and access procedures at all times.
Compliance, Safety & Documentation
* Work in accordance with Mitie and client health & safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
* Prepare and follow risk assessments, RAMS and permits‑to‑work as required (including isolation/lock‑out procedures).
* Accurately record all work activity on the CAFM system, including clear fault descriptions, rectification notes, parts used and time taken, to support KPI/SLA reporting.
* Maintain statutory, planned and reactive maintenance records to support compliance audits and assurance.
* Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly and contribute to toolbox talks and continuous improvement activities.
* Maintain awareness of fire safety systems and interfaces (non‑specialist) and elevate defects to the appropriate specialist teams.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
* Escort and supervise specialist contractors.
* Ensure compliance with site rules, H&S, and RAMS.
* Support audits, inspections, and client compliance activities.
Essential
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Maintenance
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* Experience in commercial, healthcare, or critical environments
* Proven multi‑skilled maintenance capability
Desirable
* Healthcare or Community Diagnostic Centre experience
* Basic HVAC / mechanical knowledge
* IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent)
* Authorised Person / Competent Person experience (or willingness to train)

* Support service continuity by providing flexible cover (e.g., early/late shifts, planned shutdowns and out‑of‑hours support where required).
* Assist with basic parts/spares management, identify recurring issues, and propose corrective actions to reduce repeat failures.
* Work collaboratively with the Senior Facilities Manager, helpdesk and wider engineering team to maintain a safe and reliable environment.

* IT literacy sufficient to use CAFM/mobile devices, email and standard Microsoft applications.
