Are you a detail-oriented Accounts Payable professional looking to build your career within a high-performing, Private Equity-backed engineering services business?

We are now seeking a proactive and organised Accounts Payable Assistant to support the finance function in delivering accurate processing, strong financial controls, and excellent supplier relationships.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced SME environment where your contribution will directly support operational efficiency and financial integrity.

Core hours 40 per week: 08:00-17:00, with one hour for lunch.

Your Background: Experience within an Accounts Payable or finance administration role
Skills: Invoice processing, reconciliation, payment runs, vendor coordination. Good with systems & technology (we use Fieldboss). Basic accounting qualifications

The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for processing and verifying invoices, reconciling accounts payable, ensuring timely payments, maintaining vendor records, and providing administrative support to the finance function.

You will process, verify and reconcile incoming invoices, ensuring correct coding and attachment to relevant documentation. You will schedule and prepare vendor payments in line with agreed payment terms, avoiding late fees and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

You will reconcile monthly vendor statements and accounts payable reports, comparing system reports to balances to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintaining accurate and complete financial records and historical documentation will be a key part of the role.

You will identify and resolve discrepancies and issues related to invoices and payments, working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. You will also provide clerical and administrative support to the wider financial operations, assist with audits when required, and support the onboarding of new vendors while helping manage ongoing vendor relationships.

The role holder shall carry out his/her duties in accordance with the stipulated business policies and procedures.

About You:

• You are organised, methodical and take pride in maintaining accuracy and financial integrity.
• You bring previous experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role, with strong computer literacy including proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• You have a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices and ideally hold basic accounting qualifications.
• With excellent attention to detail, you are confident processing financial data, verifying information and maintaining accurate records. You are able to prioritise tasks, manage multiple accounts and multitask effectively in a busy environment.
• You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. Analytical in your approach, you are comfortable reviewing invoice items, checking totals and interpreting financial reports.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, you are adaptable, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement.
