Purpose: Contribute to the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting requirements for the edyn Group, whilst striving for continuous improvement in processes and supporting change initiatives. Our core working hours are 40.0 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team at edyn, a leading hospitality company. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and overseeing our financial controls and standards to audit, debt and investor standards. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing audits, supporting with tax compliance, supporting with cash flow management, and analysing financial data to support accurate decision making. You will ensure that the health of the legal entities you look after is high, reflecting the high expectations of investor. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING: For the European operational entities, leading month end activities including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliations, revenue reconciliations, tax reporting, intercompany recharging, IFRS 16 accounting, payroll accounting and management fee calculations. Ensuring appropriate technical accounting recognition in line with IFRS and local GAAP. Management of senior stakeholders and legal board members, ensuring their fiduciary responsibilities are clear and met and providing evidence of ETB bridges (and any adjustments). Holding suppliers to account for professional service and company secretary work. Managing these costs to budgets (and improving cost management for edyn). Manage the preparation and submission of VAT returns, City Tax review and support the annual corporate tax return process, liaising with external tax advisors where necessary. Keep abreast of changes to tax. Act as point of contact for the European entities audits, ensuring timely delivery of audit requirements and proactively managing auditor relationships. Provide ad hoc support to the Group audit process as required. Ownership of the preparation statutory accounts, or reconciliation of IFRS records to locally prepared accounts, for European entities, and supporting the wider group statutory account preparation. Supporting the Financial Reporting team with cash management and cash forecasting, particularly in relation to the preparation of funding proposals, clearance of intercompany balances, and optimisation of working capital across the Group. Ensuring that legal entity hygiene is strong through clean judgement, balance sheet recs and audit reports. Prepare technical accounting papers and ensure the business remains aligned with evolving financial reporting standards. Point of contact for the handover of newly opened properties from the development & acquisitions team. Deliver new company set-up and onboarding where required. Supporting change programmes, instilling continual efficiency and process improvement initiatives; back to core processes and the market use of systems. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will be required to support business critical ad hoc projects as the group continues to grow. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders with regards to monthly reporting processes. Providing cover and support to other Financial Reporting team members, and the wider Reporting team, as required. This can include, but is not limited to, supporting group reporting requirements including debt reporting and cash flows, internal month end reporting requirements, new property handover support, and risk & compliance reporting. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge / Skills Strong technical accounting skills, with an awareness of IFRS and how this interacts with Local GAAP and how the standards lead to good control, performance and accuracy. Excellent system and modelling skills (Netsuite, Excel, PowerBI and other related systems). Analytical in thinking, able to present information, identify issues and potential solutions. Individual must then be focused and organised in implementing these solutions. Dynamic and able to rise to new challenges as they emerge. Flexible and able to roll-up sleeves and get involved as and when necessary. Supporting colleagues in order to benefit the team and the individuals. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships and influence change. Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage own workload. Work alongside finops and finance business teams to mitigate critical operating risks and ensure that information can be relied upon for decision making. Curiosity to problem solve and escalate issues if there is a need for improvement. Experience / Qualifications A newly qualified accountant (ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA), with strong academic achievement and relevant experience. First time passes. Strong technical skillset, with a back to standard approach for key decision making. Exposure to groups across multiple jurisdictions (multiple GAAP & currency) is desirable. Experience of what an optimal control environment (simple, technically aligned and critical in focus) is essential. Relevant industry knowledge or experience within the hospitality industry is desirable. Demonstratable previous experience within a financial reporting role or similar.
