The Role
1. To provide clinical leadership and expert advice to all nursing staff in the delivery of care within their area of responsibility including recruitment, supervision, development and deployment of unit staff.
2. The post holder will have continual 24 hour responsibility for the management of the ward/department.
3. The post holder will undertake regular rotational cover of the Directorate or Hospital to provide leadership, deal with clinical issues, immediate management issues and deploy staff as appropriate.
4. To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients.
5. Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

What we'll need you to bring
6. Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
7. Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
8. Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
9. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
10. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
11. Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
12. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
13. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
14. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
15. Effective time management skills
16. Working knowledge of basic information technology
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

17. Post registration experience.
18. Band 6 experience
19. Expert knowledge of treatment of clinical condition relevant to specialty.
20. Excellent team working / team working skills with ability to work on own initiative.
21. Effectively manage resources within ward / department.
22. Evidence of personal contribution to service planning and redesign projects
23. Have expanded practice in a range of clinical skills relevant to specialty.
