Assistant Technical Officer (Aseptic)

The role is a Pharmacy Assistant within the Pharmacy team, responsible for assisting with the aseptic preparation of products such as adult parenteral nutrition bags, clinical trial products, intravenous additives and chemotherapy. Duties include maintaining a clean environment, cleaning and sanitising equipment, packing and labelling products, supporting stock control, answering telephone queries and participating in the full production‑to‑delivery chain. Competency‑based on‑the‑job training will be provided.
Key responsibilities
* Assist in aseptic preparation of parenteral nutrition bags, clinical trial products, IV additives and chemotherapy.
* Maintain a clean and pristine production environment and perform cleaning duties.
* Pack and label aseptically prepared products.
* Answer telephone queries and support front‑of‑house services.
* Assist with stock control and inventory tracking.
* Participate in the end‑to‑end production and delivery process to wards.
* Collaborate with the technical and pharmacy teams to meet SOPs and GMP requirements.
Qualifications and skills
* GCSE in Maths and English of grade C (4) or above.
* Ability to work as part of a team, maintain accuracy under pressure.
* Good organisational, communication and numerical skills.
* Adaptable, conscientious and highly motivated.
* Full‑time or part‑time availability; willingness to work 7‑day shift patterns, including late duties, bank holidays and weekends.
Disclosure and checks
The post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service Check as per the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 and the National Probation Service disclosure standard. Applicants will also undergo a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check/Enhanced Disclosure Check as the role involves working with vulnerable adults and/or children.
