Building Services Engineer
Department: Corporate Services and Facilities
Salary: £43,151- £46,387 + Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum
This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an on-call allowance.
Do you want to work on an estate with incredible technical facilities where you can make a real difference supporting security? You’ll use your knowledge and experience of building services to maintain and enhance an expanding estate with a variety of facilities, services, and utilities across multiple buildings.
You will work across a diverse campus with facilities including manufacturing workshops, engineering laboratories, clean rooms, server rooms, and offices. The campus features buildings ranging from newly constructed to around 50 years old, with varying infrastructure.
You’ll operate in a fast-paced environment where each day presents new challenges, interacting with a wide range of users and suppliers, managing projects from delivering new facilities to statutory compliance work.
Your responsibilities include project managing system replacements, coordinating reactive repair work, diagnosing issues with building systems using analytical skills, and supporting continuous improvement.
You will join a supportive team where professional development and training are encouraged, including externally recognized CIBSE courses and in-house sessions.
About You
To apply, you should have:
* A professional qualification in building services or relevant experience
* Solid understanding of building engineering and technology (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
* Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies
* Ability to manage your time effectively across multiple projects
Additional beneficial skills include:
* Good communication skills
* Experience with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 50001, ISO 14001)
* Familiarity with AutoCAD

You should enjoy managing multiple projects, establishing strong relationships, promoting responsive service delivery, demonstrating analytical skills, and communicating effectively to diverse audiences. Adaptability and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities
* Ensure site safety and legal compliance
* Lead specific projects, manage equipment replacements, and enhancements
* Respond to system failures and infrastructure issues
* Interrogate Building Management Systems for faults and improvements
* Handle user requests for repairs and upgrades
