About the Setting
You will be working within a specialist college environment for learners aged 16–25, where education is personalised, practical and outcomes‑focused. The emphasis is on developing functional English, communication skills, confidence and independence, preparing learners for adulthood, employment and further learning. Class sizes are small, relationships are central, and staff are supported to teach creatively within a nurturing, inclusive culture.
The Role
As an English Teacher, you will:
* Deliver engaging English lessons tailored to learners with additional needs
* Teach functional skills, GCSE or Entry Level English, depending on learner pathways
* Adapt curriculum content to meet individual learning and communication needs
* Support learners to develop literacy, communication and life skills
* Use trauma‑informed and SEN‑appropriate strategies to promote engagement
* Assess progress and contribute to individual learning and support plans
In addition, you will have the opportunity to:
* Take on a subject leadership / English lead role
* Support the development of English curriculum planning and resources
* Contribute to or lead CPD related to English teaching and inclusive practice
* Share best practice and support colleagues across the setting
Who We’re Looking For
This role would suit:
* A qualified English Teacher (QTS/QTLS) or an experienced FE English practitioner
* Teachers with SEN, FE or alternative provision experience, or a strong interest in this area.
* English specialists eager to develop leadership skills and wider impact
* Practitioners passionate about inclusive, learner‑centred education
