We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion) to join our Supported Learning Development team. We have three roles available across three campuses.
You will join us on a full-time basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of between £44,409.00 per annum, plus staff benefits.
Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
About the Role
This role requires working collaboratively with the Head of Department, other Assistant Heads, Lecturers, and Technicians to coordinate daily activities effectively.
The role involves embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion practices, and ensuring students with SEND and High Needs receive personalized curricula that incorporate English and Maths within vocational learning and across the department.
You will be responsible for staffing to support student achievement, maximizing daily timetables, and implementing high-quality personalized curricula for students with High Needs, aiming for ambitious outcomes. Additionally, you will champion inclusivity, mentor colleagues, and model excellent inclusive practices.
Your management style should foster collaboration in planning, resource preparation, and supporting learning support mentors to help all students reach their full potential, including those with high needs.
Candidate Requirements
We seek candidates with strong leadership qualities, a high understanding of special educational needs, and experience working with students, families, professionals, and stakeholders.
You should possess advanced pedagogic skills, be capable of inspiring others around inclusion, and have experience developing curricula and supporting the SEND agenda.
Experience in internal quality assurance, working with college systems, and managing staff wellbeing is essential. Candidates should have extensive experience in a specialist SEND setting, with post-16 experience, and a strong approach to management, including implementing reasonable adjustments for inclusion.
