ESD are currently representing a well-established main contractor delivering projects ranging from £50k up to circa £20m. The business predominantly operates within the public sector, covering Education, Social Housing, Civic, Entertainment, Healthcare, Leisure, and Commercial sectors.
The team is made up of ex–Tier 1 contractor professionals and directors, offering a high-quality, professional service with a personal approach. They are known for streamlining construction processes through the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction wherever possible.
Role Overview
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join the team. You will play a key role in pricing and securing projects, working closely with the pre-construction and commercial teams to deliver accurate and competitive tenders.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for a range of construction projects
* Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
* Take-offs and pricing of materials, labour, and subcontract packages
* Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
* Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
* Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout the tender process
* Assist in the preparation and submission of tender returns and supporting documents
* Maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
* Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
Requirements
* Proven experience as an Estimator within a main contractor environment
* Experience working on projects across public sector and/or commercial sectors
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office
* Experience working on projects up to £20m
* Exposure to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
* Relevant construction or commercial qualification
