Job Description The Design Engineer – BOM is responsible for creating, maintaining, and validating accurate Bills of Materials throughout the product lifecycle. This role bridges design engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain to ensure that product structures, part data, and documentation are complete, compliant, and production-ready. Develop and maintain Engineering BOMs (EBOM) aligned with design intent and technical specifications. Ensure BOM accuracy, completeness, and consistency across CAD, PLM, and ERP systems. Structure multi-level BOMs for assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components. Manage BOM revisions, version control, and change history. Work closely with design engineers to translate CAD models and drawings into accurate BOMs. Support concept, prototype, and production phases with timely BOM releases. Participate in design reviews to validate part selection, quantities, and configurations. Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Assess BOM impact of design changes on cost, lead time, manufacturability, and compliance. Ensure changes are communicated and implemented across all affected functions. Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and procurement teams to resolve BOM discrepancies. Support make/buy decisions, alternate part strategies, and material substitutions. Assist with cost roll-ups and material availability analysis. Ensure BOMs comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. Maintain supporting documentation such as part numbers, descriptions, and material specifications.
