Position: Fitter (also known as a HGV Field Service Engineer)
Location: Beckton depot (Ilford, North East London) with travel across the Waste Network Services catchment
Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours
Salary: £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
About the Role
* Hydraulic and High‑Pressure Jetting Systems
o Possess in‑depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, and control mechanisms.
o Specialise in maintaining and troubleshooting high‑pressure jetting systems used in drain and sewer cleaning operations.
o Conduct regular inspections and testing to ensure optimal performance of hydraulic and jetting equipment.
* Vehicle Maintenance
o Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the fleet, emphasizing hydraulic components.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and high‑pressure jetting system issues for timely repairs.
o Perform preventive maintenance tasks on hydraulic systems to maximise reliability.
* Repair and Troubleshooting
o Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, providing on‑site repairs to minimise downtime.
o Utilise diagnostic tools to identify and rectify technical issues with high‑pressure equipment.
o Collaborate with the wider team to analyse recurring problems and implement preventive measures.
* Legislation and Compliance
o Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legislation and industry standards related to hydraulic systems.
o Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
o Implement and promote safe working practices in accordance with legal requirements.
o Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
About You
The ideal candidate will be hard‑working, respectful, and compliant with health and safety standards. A strong background in commercial HGV vehicle servicing is essential.
* Class B Driving Licence plus fully recognised industry qualifications (City & Guilds or Industry Equivalent).
* Class C+E / HGV Class 2 Drivers Licence are essential.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would be useful.
* Previous water industry experience is preferred; hydraulics experience is desirable.
