At LifeArc, we want to hear from people who are as passionate as we are about making life science life changing that can improve patientslives.We offer Industrial Placements to Chemistry students who are interested in early Therapeutic Discovery (within the Chemical Biology team). This is an opportunity to get involved in exciting project work at our centre for Translational Science based in our state-of-the-art laboratories in Stevenage.Join us and yousupport our teams working across a number of areas in the drug development process and work closely with our expert team members to gain valuable experience in areas such as:Medicinal and practical synthetic chemistryChemical analytical and purification technologiesIdentification of therapeutic leadsPharmacokinetic and metabolism studiesComputational drug designData analysisMultiparameter optimisationHit identificationHit to lead drug discoveryLead optimisationDuring your placement, weexpect you to deliver regular presentations of experimental results and conclusions to the teams you work with, while maintaining high-quality written and\/or electronic lab notebook records of your research. In return, you will have the opportunity to use the work you do here to assist with your degree submission and gain research experience.To maximise LifeArc studentsexperience, the Industrial Placement role is required to be on-site working 5 days per week. This enables students to connect with colleagues, participate in team projects and events, make contacts, build networks, and importantly, accelerate their learning. About you:Education & experience required:Typically, you will currently be in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year and studying for your first degree. You must be available to commence a 12-month placement from September 2026 as part of your degree course. You should be studying one of the following disciplines:Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry (BSc\/ MSci\/ MChem)Natural Sciences (with chemistry modules)Skills and Strengths we are looking for during the assessment process:Relevant degree subject (see above) and on track to achieve at least a 2:1 classificationCollaborationDrive and determinationAnalytical mindsetAccountabilityAdaptabilityDesire to learnEffective communication skillsAbout us:At LifeArc, our ambition is to make life science life changing.
