The property stretches from Gower in South Wales to the Hafod Estate on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains. The estate office is located just outside Brecon – right in the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.For this role, the majority of your time will be spent on Pen y Fan and the surrounding upland areas, working to restore and maintain our extensive network of upland footpaths. This is a physically demanding role in a remote, mountainous environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable with outdoor work in all weather conditions and capable of carrying out practical tasks over challenging terrain.Your work will be based mainly in the Mid Wales area, and alongside your colleagues you'll help deliver much-needed practical conservation across a range of habitats and ensure amazing access on our 72 km of upland footpaths.You’ll spend much of your time carrying out essential footpath restoration and maintenance on Pen y Fan and other upland routes. This work is vital to protect these popular paths from erosion and ensure safe, sustainable access for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Alongside this, you’ll help to protect and care for the wider landscape, including habitats, wildlife, buildings, and machinery. Every task you complete will contribute to the long-term health of this special place. You’ll also share your knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors, helping them to enjoy and understand the area and the conservation work that goes into looking after it. Whether it’s answering questions on the mountain or explaining why path repairs matter, you’ll play a key role in connecting people with their surroundings. Your work will ensure that conservation standards and outdoor experiences remain at the highest level. From maintaining paths to supporting habitat restoration, you’ll take pride in delivering quality results that make a real difference. Finally, you’ll build strong relationships within the local community, proudly representing the National Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing to protect this iconic landscape.You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached.
