Job Summary
Mastercall Healthcare is an award‑winning social enterprise with over 29 years of experience delivering high quality out‑of‑hospital services. We require a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) for our main base in Hazel Grove to support urgent primary care services. The position is part‑time, with shifts on a two‑week rota.
Responsibilities
* Initial assessment of patients including confirmation of identity and presenting complaint, determination of priority and appropriate clinical stream.
* Record vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, oxygen saturation, blood glucose), and perform urinalysis as required.
* Use validated tools (e.g., NEWS2) to identify deteriorating patients and liaise with senior clinicians.
* Perform point‑of‑care testing and other clinical tasks; chaperone patients when needed.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas and manage stock control.
* Enter tasks and consultation details into electronic systems and call for escalation when indicated.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and team members, recognising need for alternative communication methods.
* Administer basic life support and use AED if necessary.
* Support health professionals in surveillance of patients’ health and well‑being, and assist with data collection on health needs.
* Promote efficient delivery of care, prioritise consultations and liaise with local services such as the urgent care centre if transfer needed.
* Follow Mastercall policies, procedures and continuous professional development requirements.
Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in primary care or an acute healthcare environment (e.g., A&E, UTC, or primary care with patient contact).
* Experience working under indirect supervision.
* Familiarity with baseline observations and measurement.
* Demonstrated understanding of the HCA role and clinical competency relevant to the position.
* Computer‑literate with evidence of IT skills.
* Awareness of accountability and delegation issues.
Experience (Desirable)
* Knowledge of triage/navigation.
Qualifications (Essential)
* Permanent right to work in the UK.
* NVQ3 Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent.
* Additional clinical skills training.
* GCSE Mathematics & English (Grade 4+) or equivalent.
* Up-to‑date basic life support training.

Working Pattern & Remuneration
Contract: Permanent (Part‑time). Rate of pay: £13.45 to £15.27 per hour, dependent on shift timing.
