DB Cargo UK currently has opportunities available to join our Maintenance team at our Stoke site as an Engineering Apprentice.
Role Overview
As an Engineering Apprentice, you will ensure that all work related to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Traction & Rolling stock (T&RS) and components is completed safely, thoroughly, professionally, and timely.
This is a one-year apprenticeship combining classroom learning and depot work. We aim to support new talent in gaining a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations through hands-on experience with our engineers and a solid foundation in Traction & Rolling Stock maintenance.
What Will You Be Doing?
* Participating in classroom-based learning and depot tasks supported by a skills coach.
* Developing skills in safety practices, legislation, and industry procedures.
* Learning technical principles supporting wagon fleet maintenance.
* Contributing to engineering solutions, problem-solving, project planning, and quality assurance.
* Building career skills such as time management, communication, and organization.
* Handling equipment safely and correctly.
* Using fault diagnosis techniques for mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
* Using test and measuring instruments in metric and imperial units.
What Are We Looking For?
* Interest in engineering, maintenance, and a desire to build a career with DB Cargo UK.
* Willingness to engage actively in training and development.
* Inquisitiveness about how things work and a desire to learn.
* Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
* Commitment to safety, following instructions, rules, and regulations.
* Minimum of two GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above.
* Residence within a 60-minute commute of the depot.
* Must be 18 or older due to the safety-critical nature of the role, with a medical assessment as standard.
