PLC Automation Engineer:
For one of our globally leading tech clients we are urgently looking for an experienced PLC Automation Engineer for a long contract based in Wakefield, UK.

Key Responsibilities
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair automation and control systems
* Track and analyze Material Handling Equipment (MHE) performance metrics
* Collaborate with the EU Controls network to ensure system reliability
* Develop and present data visualizations for troubleshooting and performance insights
* Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain accurate system documentation and backup libraries
* Support installation and commissioning of new automation equipment
* Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams
* Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
* Develop and optimize PLC code compliant with IEC 61131-3 standards
A Day in the Life
* Act as the site expert for automation systems
* Ensure smooth operation of conveyors, sortation systems, and robotics
* Diagnose failures and implement technical solutions
* Train Engineering Technicians on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
* Continuously identify and implement process improvements
Basic Qualifications
* Experience with PLC-controlled automation systems
* Hands-on experience with conveyors and sortation systems
* Knowledge of material handling and flow optimization
* Experience with tools/technologies such as:
* Microsoft Office & project management tools
* PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Codesys)
* Ladder Logic & structured programming
* SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition) and HMI
* Industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, AS-i)
* VFDs, safety systems, and I/O devices
* Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
