The Nuclear Medicine serviceis within the Clinical Sciences care group at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. NUH is the fourth largest acute teaching trust in the UK. The Trust provides a range of regional specialist services and remains at the forefront of clinical research.
The Nuclear Medicine service runs on both the City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre Campuses and is equipped with 3 GE Discovery scanners and a GE Aurora scanner. The service performs a full range of Nuclear Medicine investigations for various specialities within the Trust, has a radiopharmacy unit at QMC and supports research studies.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Nuclear Medicine operator (technologist/radiographer) who will work rotationally at both campuses to deliver the Nuclear Medicine clinical service. This will include day-to-day supervision of the gamma cameras; participation in all technical aspects of the full range of imaging and non-imaging tests including administration of radiopharmaceuticals; participation in non-patient contact support roles.
The post is a full time role, but part time would be considered. This is a post to cover a fixed-term maternity leave.

The post holder participates in all technical aspects of the provision of the Nuclear Medicine service. Specifically the post holder will :
Perform quality control of technical equipment
Carry out patient scans.
Process images using proprietary computer software.
Perform intravenous, oral and inhaled administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
Dispense radioactive doses
Participates in the clinical administration required in the service.
Undertake management of radioactive waste
Work to specific clinical protocols for different Nuclear Medicine procedures
This is a rotational post and the post holder may be based at either the Queen’s Medical Centre Campus or the City Hospital Campus according to the needs of the service.

Be responsible for independently carrying out a full range of Nuclear Medicine investigations, including authorisation of referrals, processing images and performing non-imaging studies such as GFR.
Carry out quality assurance tests on the equipment.
Participate in reviewing existing procedures and the development of new procedures relevant to the provision of the service.
Participate in the provision of training of staff and other groups of healthcare professionals within the Trust and other organisations.
Undertake Nuclear Medicine investigations as part of approved research studies.
Participate in the molecular radionuclide therapies, including I131 ablation, I131 thyrotoxicosis treatments and Ra223 treatments.
