About the role
The Faculty of Science Engineering and Medicine is delighted to be recruiting for this exciting role within our evolving research professional services team.
As Research Manager for Science and Engineering, you will lead our professional services support for research culture, environment, and impact as we head towards REF 2028:
1. Provide expert leadership to professional services teams and individuals.
2. Identify and implement opportunities to promote positive research culture.
3. Develop and implement best practice local processes in support of our research environment, culture, REF, KEF, and other external assessment exercises.
4. Work closely with faculty to build impact literacy and support research excellence.
5. Oversee Public Engagement activities.
6. Deputise for the Senior Research Manager (Science and Engineering).

As research manager, you will combine excellent communication skills with top-tier organisation skills to support and empower colleagues across professional service and academia to achieve their very best.
You will have substantial higher education or public sector experience and be excited to take ownership, set up new processes, and work cooperatively across a broad range of research culture, REF, and public engagement activities.
