Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Haematology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent role for someone looking to advance their skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory setting while contributing to a busy and dynamic Haematology department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform a range of diagnostic tests in haematology including full blood counts, blood film morphology, and coagulation testing
* Operate automated haematology analysers (e.g., Sysmex, Beckman Coulter, or Siemens platforms)
* Participate in internal and external quality assurance procedures
* Interpret results and escalate abnormal findings to clinical teams
* Maintain accurate documentation in line with laboratory SOPs and UKAS/ISO 15189 standards
Essential Requirements:
* HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
* Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Haematology laboratory
* Competency in using automated haematology analysers and manual differentials
* Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance procedures
Desirable:
* Previous NHS experience
* Experience with LIMS systems (e.g., WinPath, LabCentre)
