Principal Structural Design Engineer
RPS is seeking an experienced Principal Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures team, servicing clients across London, Milton Keynes, and the Midlands. Our focus is on low to medium rise residential development and structural investigations.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects in various sectors, including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We prioritize sustainable design, material efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and digitalization to enhance client experience from concept to completion.
What you’ll be doing: You will manage and deliver residential foundation and superstructure projects, including low and medium rise housing and commercial developments. Your responsibilities include:
* Assisting senior management in team leadership
* Managing projects independently
* Handling project financials and fee quotations
* Leading staff and coordinating with consultants
* Developing engineering teams
* Collaborating with stakeholders and clients
* Conducting site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repairs
Who we’re looking for: A candidate with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or working towards chartership. You should have experience in:
* Design of foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures per Eurocodes
* Residential market experience, including traditional and framed structures
* Structural investigations, including for the Building Safety Act
* Proficiency with Tekla, AutoCAD, Revit
* Leadership and management skills
* Decision-making ability, motivation, and innovation drive
