About Smoke BBQ
Smoke BBQ is an independent, high-volume BBQ restaurant specialising in authentic low & slow cooking, smoked meats, and scratch-made sides. We combine traditional American BBQ techniques with modern British flavour and presentation.
Everything we serve is prepared fresh in-house — from house-smoked brisket and ribs to our sauces, rubs and sides. We are passionate about quality, consistency, and delivering standout food in a fast-paced environment.
We are now looking for an experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef and help lead our kitchen team.
The Role – Sous Chef
As Sous Chef at Smoke BBQ, you will:
* Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
* Lead the team during busy services
* Maintain high standards of food quality and consistency
* Manage prep, stock control and ordering
* Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met (Level 2 minimum preferred)
* Train and develop junior kitchen staff
* Contribute to menu development and specials
This is a hands-on role in a fresh-food kitchen with real responsibility and opportunity for progression.
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous ready to step up
* Experience in high-volume, fresh-food kitchens
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy service environment
* Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP and kitchen systems
* Passion for quality ingredients and bold flavours
BBQ or smokehouse experience is a bonus but not essential.
