About the role Support the well-being and personal development of younger students in a nurturing, parental role The House Parent plays a vital role in caring for students aged 9–12 or 12–14 during our Juniors residential courses. Acting in loco parentis, you’ll help children feel safe, cared for, and at home. You’ll support daily routines, provide reassurance and guidance, and foster a warm, family-style environment where every student can grow in confidence, independence, and friendship. Dates Course dates between the start of July and mid-August 2026 Pay details £812.51 per week (£725 weekly pay accrued holiday pay, paid in the final payroll) Additional benefits Accommodation and selected meals included Paid training Enhanced DBS provided (if required) Working pattern Saturday to Saturday, up to 55 hours per week on a shift pattern with overnight duties 1 day off per week Reports to Senior House Parent Main duties Emotional and social support: Build rapport with students, providing care and guidance while fostering an environment of respect, inclusivity, and kindness. Residential duties: Support daily routines including morning registrations, mealtimes, curfew checks, and overnight duty as part of the residential team. Welfare and safeguarding: Take responsibility for the wellbeing and safeguarding of your group, ensuring any concerns are reported immediately to the Safeguarding & Welfare Manager. Activity support: Assist the activities team in delivering a variety of on-site activities and excursions, ensuring students are engaged and supervised. Team collaboration: Work closely with fellow House Parents, Activity Leaders, and the Welfare team to ensure consistent care and communication across all aspects of student life. About you You’re a compassionate and dependable person who takes genuine joy in helping young people feel safe, supported, and at home. You understand the emotional and social needs of children and can bring calm, structure, and reassurance when they need it most. Creating a welcoming environment comes naturally to you — one where every student feels included, cared for, and confident to be themselves. You take pride in being a steady, friendly presence that students can trust, guiding them through their routines and celebrating their successes along the way. Essential Experience of working with children or young people, ideally in residential or pastoral care roles. Clear evidence of providing emotional and social support to younger students and responding promptly to welfare concerns. Proven ability to create a positive, inclusive environment that promotes student well-being, and to communicate effectively with children and staff. Excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills, particularly suited to working with younger students. Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role). Desirable Knowledge of child development, especially social and emotional needs, and safeguarding procedures within residential or educational settings. Experience working in boarding schools, summer camps, or other residential programs, with skills in leading activities or managing children in multicultural environments.
