Senior Occupational Therapist - Hobbs Rehabilitation at Chedington
We are looking for a skilled and dynamic Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist with a passion for neurological and/or Spinal Rehabilitation and clinical excellence.
Hobbs Rehabilitation at Chedington - Dorset will provide bespoke intensive rehabilitation packages to adults with a range of conditions, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, poly-trauma, amputation, and other neurological conditions.
We are looking for an experienced OT with an interest in this exciting area of rehab to join our existing team in developing this new service. The role will include assessment and treatment for a caseload of neurological patients with both physical and cognitive impairments.
Main duties of the job:
* Assessing patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments using a range of formal and informal assessments.
* Practicing safely within the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.
* Formulating patient-centred goals in conjunction with MDT.
* Creating and providing one-to-one intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments.
* Evaluating patients' progress using published outcome measures.
* Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.
* Organising and planning the MDT therapy caseload at Chedington Neuro rehab unit in conjunction with other clinical team members.
* Maintaining up-to-date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.
* Writing high-quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.
* Attending and contributing to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Recognised degree qualification in relevant neurological rehab clinical specialism.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of working with patients with a range of neurological impairments.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written.
* Excellent team working skills.
* Good IT skills.
* Clinical skills within the field of neurological rehabilitation.
* Knowledge and understanding of specialist neurological assessment and treatment approaches relating to acquired neurological conditions including spinal injuries.
* Commitment to developing self and others through training, supervision, and mentoring.
* Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the service.
Desirable:
* Evidence of further specialist post-graduate study within the field of neurological rehab.
* Experience of supervising and line-managing other staff.
* Experience of working in a leadership role.
* Experience of managing complex situations and dealing with conflict.
* Experience with working with spinal clients.
* Experience with working with amputee clients.
* Enthusiasm for neuro-technology.
* Innovative and creative thinking with vision to improve and develop services for the future.
* Confidence in engaging with external stakeholders.
