About the Role
We are currently recruiting Special Support Officers to work across a variety of specialist education settings in Swansea and Carmarthenshire. These settings cater for pupils with a range of needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social‑emotional challenges. You will play a vital role in creating a supportive, inclusive environment where pupils can build confidence, develop independence, and gain essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
* Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties, and social‑emotional needs.
* Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
* Encourage the development of life skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviours.
* Adapt learning activities to ensure engagement and accessibility.
About You
* Have experience working with children or young people with ALN (in specialist or mainstream settings).
* Are patient, empathetic, and resilient.
* Can adapt to different settings and age groups.
* Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Are proactive, creative, and committed to inclusive education.
Requirements
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
* Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
* Safeguarding training (can be provided).
* All applicants must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced DBS check.
