Offer description

We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Casework Officer to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role involves coordinating statutory assessments and Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans while working closely with schools, families, and multi-agency partners to ensure positive outcomes.

Location: Liverpool (Hybrid – minimum 2 days per week on site)
Rate: £35.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 3 months +
Start: Immediate

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Support settings, schools, services and families to apply the graduated approach to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND

* Coordinate the statutory assessment process for pupils with SEND, reviewing and monitoring progress against agreed outcomes

* Provide advice and guidance to SENCos and Headteachers, developing strong professional relationships with schools and settings

* Manage a caseload of children and young people, coordinating the EHC assessment, planning, placement and review process

* Ensure all statutory timescales are met in relation to EHC plans

* Work closely with internal services including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, and external partners such as Health, Children’s and Adult Social Care

* Ensure children, young people and their parents/carers are central to all planning and review processes

* Attend annual reviews for vulnerable pupils including Looked After Children, Continuing Care cases, and pupils at risk of exclusion

* Promote inclusion and support children and young people to remain in maintained settings within Liverpool wherever possible

Essential Requirements:

* Recent experience working within an Education or Children’s Services environment, ideally as a SEND Casework Officer

* In-depth knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated SEND legislation, including SENDIST regulations

* Experience of coordinating and facilitating review meetings

* Proven experience of multi-agency working to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people

* Experience working directly with parents and carers

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

* Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce complex spreadsheets and presentations
