Job Title: Automation & Innovation Development Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Alderley Park, Edinburgh (Waverley Gate)

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We’re looking for an Automation & Innovation Development Manager to help drive digital transformation across our Group Customer Operations function, as part of our Automation Centre of Excellence.



This is a hands-on technical leadership role, leading the design, development and delivery of intelligent automation, AI and Power Platform solutions that improve efficiency, quality and customer outcomes.



You’ll lead a team of developers while remaining actively involved in solution architecture, application development and enterprise automation delivery. Working closely with Operations, Transformation and IT, you’ll deliver both quick-win automations and large-scale transformation initiatives.



Using technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, RPA, AI and Copilot, you’ll turn operational challenges into secure, scalable and supportable solutions that make a real difference for colleagues and customers.



You’ll also help shape technical standards, governance and best practices across the Automation Centre of Excellence, ensuring solutions are built with long-term scalability, security and maintainability in mind.



About the role



* Lead the hands-on design, development and delivery of enterprise-grade automation and digital solutions across Group Customer Operations
* Build scalable solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Copilot capabilities
* Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across automation initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable and aligned to best practice
* Act as a senior technical specialist within the Automation Centre of Excellence, supporting standards, governance, ALM and platform adoption
* Work closely with Operations, Transformation and IT to translate operational challenges into practical technical solutions
* Support and mentor developers through technical leadership, code reviews and best practice guidance
* Drive both rapid automation opportunities and larger transformation initiatives, balancing speed, quality and long-term maintainability
* Ensure solutions comply with security, governance, data privacy and regulatory standards



About you



* Strong hands-on experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate in enterprise environments
* Proven experience delivering scalable automation solutions using Power Platform, RPA and AI technologies
* Deep understanding of Power Platform architecture, governance, environment strategy, security roles, solution management and ALM practices
* Experience working with Dataverse, connectors, APIs and integrating enterprise systems
* Ability to troubleshoot, optimise and support complex automation and application solutions
* Comfortable acting as a technical lead while remaining actively involved in solution design and development
* Experience establishing or contributing to a Power Platform Centre of Excellence is highly desirable
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes
* Experience using metrics, KPIs and operational insights to measure automation value and continuous improvement
