Job
The role of Legal Cashier will give you the opportunity to be involved with:
* Processing and allocating client and office account receipts
* Reviewing and setting up electronic payments including CHAPS, BACS, Faster Payments and international transfers
* Ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering procedures prior to payment processing
* Managing client and office account transactions including payments, receipts, transfers and bill settlements
* Administering designated client bank accounts and related transactions
* Reviewing cheque requests and ensuring compliance with internal authorisation procedures
* Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items
* Supporting daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
* Working closely with partners, fee earners and operational teams on client and firm transactions
* Processing banking activities including cash and cheque deposits
* Calculating and processing client account interest where required
* Maintaining accurate electronic records for audit and regulatory purposes
* Supporting annual audit processes
* Contributing to process improvements and maintaining procedural documentation
* Assisting with ad hoc finance and cashiering duties as required
You
As a Legal Cashier, you will ideally possess the following:
* Previous experience in a Legal Cashier or Cashroom role
* Strong understanding of client and office account transactions
* Knowledge of legal accounting regulations and compliance requirements
* Experience processing high-volume financial transactions accurately
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
* Comfortable working with financial systems and banking platforms
* Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with stakeholders at all levels
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
* Team-oriented approach with a willingness to support colleagues
