Job Overview
The training post provides the opportunity to gain the experience and qualifications needed to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). This fixed‑term position is for two years to meet the service needs. Salary is initially annex 21 band 4 at 70 % of the top of band 4, progressing to 75 % of the top of band 4 after 12 months.
Main Duties
* Dispense medicines for in‑patients and out‑patients in a hospital setting.
* Handle purchasing, distribution and ward‑based work.
* Rotate between community hospital sites and GP surgeries as part of cross‑sector training.
* Participate in project week at different sites and undertake audits and presentations.
* Travel between different health board sites.
Qualifications
* Essential: 4 GCSEs A‑C, including Maths, English and Science.
* Desirable: evidence of academic study and continuing professional development after leaving school; NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
Experience
* Desirable: experience working within hospital and/or community pharmacy or within the NHS.
Aptitude & Abilities
* Essential: ability to work in a team, organise oneself, good IT skills, health and safety awareness.
* Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; knowledge of pharmacy services and the role of a pharmacy technician.
Values

* Desirable: ability to use initiative and practise time management.
Other
* Essential: willingness to work in a bilingual area.
