As we head into 2026, we are keen to hear from Associate Director and Senior Manager level Commercial Managers who are looking for a new challenge. Opportunities exist to join over 400 colleagues working for Mace across our Defence Business Unit. Mace is committed to supporting Defence and National Security across three key areas: infrastructure, commercial services and project delivery. Suitable individuals will hold SC or have the ability to obtain it, be flexible on working location as opportunities exist across London and the South West. Exposure to Defence and NEC contracts is hugely beneficial.
Providing cost management services from contract signature and award to completion of projects in various sectors. Provides leadership to managers and professionals.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Managing safety-first delivery, ensuring excellence in quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance.
2. Providing strategic leadership for key commissions, aligning delivery to client objectives.
3. Governing commercial, contractual and ethical operations, ensuring fiscal discipline and legislative compliance.
4. Inspiring inclusive teams, continuous improvement and net zero outcomes through collaboration and innovation.
5. Managing contract administration, documentation, certifications and final account agreement.
6. Controlling post-contract costs, valuations, variations, reporting and contractor claims.
7. Providing commercial leadership, stakeholder management and develop high-performing cost management teams.
8. Driving system improvements, continuous improvement and net zero carbon outcomes.
You’ll need to have:
9. Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
10. Professional membership or working towards i.e. MRICS/RICS, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
11. Experience in business development.
12. Developed commercial and financial acumen.
13. Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
14. Experience leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.
15. Developing experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
16. Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
