Smart Network & Meter Health Analyst

Working hours 37 Hours

23 Month fixed term contract

Salary Up to £52,000 per annum

Location Chelmsford, Essex

We're open to discussing flexible working.

About The Role

We have an exciting new role for a Smart Network & Meter Health Analyst, who will play a key role in ensuring the performance and reliability of our smart metering network. As a metering team, we are installing over 700k meters over the current 5 year process. We need to make sure that these meters are sending data through our network to gain important water saving benefits, to identify leaks, and to meet our Ofwat targets.

Reporting to the Metering Strategic Deployment Planner, you will support the daily analysis and proactive discovery of operability issues that influence smart meter connectivity performance.

Your work will involve collaborating closely with our smart network and install partners and internal teams to monitor meter health, resolve communication issues and maintain a strong understanding of network performance across all operating regions.

You will be responsible for investigating non‑communicating meters, deciding the appropriate next steps and supporting both desktop and field‑based activities designed to get meters back online. Acting as a key operational link between customer service teams, technical colleagues and external stakeholders, you will ensure that all parties have clear visibility of network activity, planned and unplanned outages, and the associated impacts.

A significant part of your role will include developing and maintaining timely performance reporting, including creating scorecards, dashboards and analytical insights that highlight trends, root causes and opportunities for improvement.

You will be responsible for leading and contributing to continuous improvement activity, working with partners to pilot and deliver innovative solutions to communication challenges. Additionally, your expertise will support annual regulatory submissions and long‑term business planning related to smart connectivity.

About You

We are looking for you to bring experience working in an analyst-level role within a complex environment, supported by a degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as business management, engineering or the sciences.

You will be confident working with large datasets from multiple sources and translating it into meaningful insights that support operational performance and decision-making. Your strong analytical skills will be matched by your ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Building trusted relationships will be second nature to you, and you will be comfortable acting as an interface between technical teams, system users and partners.

To excel in this role, you will take a systematic and disciplined approach to problem‑solving, demonstrate sound decision‑making and be capable of managing complex information to inform next actions.

You will have well‑developed computer skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of Power BI, Power Apps and other tools needed to support reporting and dashboard creation.

You will thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy working collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams and show the flexibility needed to support both planned and reactive work. Above all, you will be driven by improving service, performance and the overall customer experience through high‑quality analysis and proactive network health management.
