Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the CAMHS Crisis and Assessment team! In this role you will bring mental health and emotional services to children and young people, promoting recovery and well‑being through case management, direct clinical care, consultation, supervision and training.
A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a grade NM05 or NM06. NM05 CNSs have no line‑management duty, while NM06 CNSs manage teams or hold relevant experience.

Job responsibilities
* Deliver specialised, person‑centred holistic care to children, young people, families, carers and health professionals.
* Manage own caseload, conduct comprehensive assessments and refer as necessary.
* Provide advice, counselling, education and interventions; follow up on changes of care or discharge.
* Act as an integral member of the multi‑disciplinary team, ensuring coordinated, evidence‑based care across the clinical pathway.
* Contribute to crisis assessment, risk formulation and short‑term therapeutic interventions.
* Support timely triage, coordination of referrals and safe decision‑making at points of presentation.
* Govern quality and safety of services for children and young people, and promote evidence‑based practice.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* Essential: Regulated nurse with current NMC specialist/ speciality degree or level‑6 qualification in Nursery or equivalent; recognised teaching qualification; working toward Level‑7 professional qualification; Intermediate Life Support (ILS).
* Desirable: Masters‑level qualification in an appropriate speciality; Independent Prescribing qualification (e.g. NMC V300).
Person Specification – Safeguarding
* Direct contact with children and young people and their families; requires safeguarding training and DBS Enhanced Child check.
Person Specification – Experience
* Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience post‑qualifying as a nurse; leadership of multi‑professional teams; engagement with patients, motivating and supporting them to high standards; safeguarding knowledge; change leadership in clinical practice; use of clinical outcome measures; clinical governance, audit, and service user experience; staff management of a ward, area or department.
* Desirable: Experience conducting supervision sessions; delivering training to a broad range of professionals; implementing and managing changes in clinical practice.
