We are looking for a Medication Safety Officer (MSO) to join our dedicated team of twenty pharmacy professionals. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of patients in Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).
First and foremost, you must have a passion for medication safety
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to work in collaboration with our Patient Safety team to initiate and manage change. You will need to possess skills to analyse data, write and present reports, provide assurance about the safe use of medicines and highlight areas of risk to managers.
Our team of experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are very friendly and passionate about supporting patients to manage their medication independently. We tend to work remotely from multiple locations across BNSSG and come together regularly for team meetings and social events.
Support the management of medication incident reporting as a medication safety specialist.
Highlight risks to the relevant service or divisional manager and support the management of medication risks
Identify new and innovative ways to share lessons learned with staff.
Support the Patient Safety team with coordinating our response to national or local alerts identifying actions required
Produce regular reports on incidents for the Medicines Optimisation Group, identifying key themes and sharing lessons learned.
Support the management of Controlled Drug incidents and instigate onward reporting /escalation as appropriate
Be an active member of the ICS Medicines Quality and Safety Group and regional/national forums.
