Part- Time Bookkeeper / Accounts Technician

On behalf of our client a busy local general practice law firm in Belfast city centre, McKinty Associates are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Part-Time Legal Bookkeeper to join their team. Reporting to the Partners, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring full compliance with the Law Society. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with experience in a legal or professional services environment who enjoys working autonomously.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Processing daily accounting of all office and client accounts
2. Complete daily banking functions including bank reconciliation
3. Online banking processing and Chaps payments
4. Daily processing cheque runs
5. Record bills/invoices whilst checking for accuracy
6. Supplier statement reconciliations
7. Generate invoices and monitor aged debtors supporting the Credit control process
8. Prepare VAT returns and support external audits
9. Posting monthly journals for payroll, expenses, month end accruals/prepayments and depreciation
Eligibility criteria:
10. Recent relevant experience in a finance team (2 years plus)
11. Strong bookkeeping experience (ledgers, reconciliations, journals, VAT)
12. Experience in legal bookkeeping within a law firm environment
13. Strong understanding of client accounts and compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules
14. Excellent numeracy and time management skills
15. Strong IT skills and ability to work to deadlines
16. High accuracy and attention to detail.
17. Good communication skills
18. Excellent telephone manner
