 
        
        Interim Director of Finance & Resources – FTC until 31 December 2026 (with the possibility for extension or permanent appointment). This pivotal role is at Leukaemia UK, reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with fellow Directors to drive the charity’s long‑term business strategy and organisational culture.
You will oversee day‑to‑day financial, HR, IT and facilities management operations, and work closely with the CEO on charity governance. As an exceptional people‑leader, you will inspire and motivate teams at all levels, galvanising a high‑performing, values‑driven culture that makes a real difference to people’s lives.
Leukaemia UK is a small but mighty charity with a single ambition – to stop leukaemia devastating lives. Over the next ten years we aim to improve the lives of more people with leukaemia through life‑changing research, awareness and advocacy. We invest strategically to grow our income, profile and impact, and the Director of Finance & Resources is key to this strategy.
Responsibilities
 * Effective financial management, including financial planning, reporting, budgeting and risk management.
 * People and organisational design and culture, ensuring a supportive, inclusive environment.
 * Governance and legal responsibilities, including board relations and statutory compliance.
 * IT and premises oversight, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency.
 * Managing the Finance Committee, People & Culture Committee and Remuneration Committee.
Qualifications
 * Qualified accountant.
 * Successful track record in leading a finance function, ideally in a charity or not‑for‑profit organisation.
 * Previous experience managing external audit, risk management, payroll, pension, and procurement functions.
 * Successful track record in line management, building teams and engaging working climates where staff are motivated and performing at a high standard.
 * Experience building an inclusive culture and creating workplace systems and processes that reflect that culture.
 * Evidence of working with board members and senior management to deliver strategic objectives, sound governance and solid financial priorities.
 * Evidence of identifying new strategic initiatives and leading change.
Desirable
 * Experience in leading HR, IT, Legal or Premises functions.
 * Experience leading Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
 * Governance experience as a Trustee or equivalent.
 * Experience working with outsourced providers.
 * Experience in interim roles.
