We are seeking a skilled Instrument Design Engineer with to support the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for Oil & Gas facilities. The role involves preparing detailed engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions across upstream, midstream, or downstream projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed instrumentation and control system designs for Oil & Gas projects.
* Prepare and review engineering deliverables including:
* Instrument datasheets
* Instrument index and I/O lists
* Hook-up drawings
* Loop diagrams
* Wiring diagrams
* Cable schedules and routing
* Control panel and junction box layouts
* Cause & effect charts
* P&IDs markups and reviews
* Select and specify field instruments such as transmitters, analyzers, control valves, and safety devices.
* Perform sizing and selection of control valves, flow elements, and safety instrumentation.
* Support development of control philosophies and functional design specifications.
* Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and codes (IEC, ISA, API, ATEX, NEC, etc.).
* Coordinate with process, electrical, mechanical, and piping disciplines.
* Participate in HAZOP, SIL, and design review meetings.
* Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases.
* Review vendor documents and drawings for compliance with project requirements.
* Assist with FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities.
* Support troubleshooting and field modifications when required.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
* 8 - 12 years of experience in instrumentation design within the Oil & Gas or process industry or gas distributor
* Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and control systems.
* Experience with hazardous area classification and protection methods.
* Familiarity with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS systems.
* Experience in brownfield and/or greenfield projects.
* Proficiency in engineering design standards and best practices.
1. Technical Skills
* Experience with engineering tools such as:
* AutoCAD / MicroStation / SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) / AVEVA / E3D (as applicable)
* Control valve sizing software knowledge preferred.
* Knowledge of communication protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, Ethernet/IP).
* Understanding of SIL assessment and functional safety concepts is a plus.
