You will manage equipment maintenance and supply contracts, hold budget responsibility, and act as the ‘Superuser’ for our asset management systems. This position requires a proactive individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work autonomously while leading a small team. If you have experience in engineering asset management, risk assessment, and contract oversight, and can deliver high standards in a dynamic environment, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and maintain NFRS operational engineering equipment and associated asset management systems.
* Supervise two Operational Equipment Technicians and ensure performance standards are met.
* Oversee equipment acquisition, maintenance, and disposal processes, ensuring compliance with safety and legislative requirements.
* Administer and monitor budgets (approx. £300k) and manage supplier and maintenance contracts.
* Produce and maintain risk assessments, equipment notes, and technical documentation for operational equipment.
* Analyse data from asset and financial systems to identify trends, efficiencies, and cost‑saving opportunities.
* Support development of operational equipment strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Undertake investigations of near misses and dangerous occurrences relating to operational equipment and vehicles.

Experience / Qualification

* HND/HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience in asset/equipment management.
* Hold a formal Health and Safety qualification or be working towards one.
* Hold a driving licence (reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled candidates).
* Proven supervisory experience and ability to lead a team effectively.
* Ability to create risk assessments and experience working in an engineering environment.
* Competent user of asset management software and MS Office.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with ability to produce reports and manage contracts.

Why NFRS?

* Agile Working – NFRS has an Agile Working Policy which gives our employees the opportunity to mix office working with working from home to help provide you with more flexibility.
* Flexibility – We are family friendly and are open to considering different working patterns.
* Annual Leave – 27 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays and a Christmas concessionary day.
* Health and Wellbeing – As a Service we provide a wide range of Health and Wellbeing support to all our employees.
