JOB TITLE: Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
LOCATION: Halifax, Leeds or Manchester
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

The role is in the DevOps Tooling Services team, part of Enterprise Engineering Tooling within the Chief Technology Office. As a team we enable engineering teams to deliver software safely and at pace through DevOps solutions and engineering excellence.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking progressive team, actively working in on-prem, private and public clouds. This role will focus on the administration of the multi-platform CI/CD solution for containerised applications, as well as a range of DevOps tooling. The candidate will be responsible for both technical leadership and technical support, whilst supporting the design, build and implementation of DevOps solutions based on business requirement.
We aim to deliver the highest quality colleague and customer service whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring, and supporting colleagues and teams. You'll work in cross-disciplinary teams supporting and delivering exciting colleague and customer driven high-quality solutions.
What will you be doing in this role?
You’ll give technical support of CI/CD solutions as a technical lead within the Enterprise Engineering Tooling team. Alongside this, you’ll also provide technical support for a range of DevOps solutions.
Using automation and systems thinking, you’ll streamline operational processes, as well as managing DevOps tooling services through the service lifecycle (including risk management and compliance).
Keeping the customer at the heart of your decision-making process, you’ll deliver Engineering Excellence through the delivery of high quality and reliable DevOps solutions. You’ll meet Engineering Teams’ challenges, helping them to deliver value through consultancy and the implementation of robust DevOps solutions.
Providing technical leadership, during service outages you’ll recover services through incident and problem management.
You’ll create sustainable change and build capabilities.
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. However, there are some specific skills that we’d need to see:
• Experience of CI/CD across various tooling and methodologies.
• Experience as a SRE, Service, DevOps Engineer or in a similar software or cloud role with a focus on service management.
• Strong critical thinking skills, leading live support, and incident management as and when needed.
• Technical leadership experience.
• Understanding of DevOps concepts and methodologies
• Excellent analytical skills and able to work methodically and diligently.
• Programming and scripting experience
• Displaying excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A passion for service management, ensuring our colleagues and customers receive the most reliable service possible.
Although not essential, these are also desirable skills:
• Cloud Platforms - GCP/OpenShift/Azure
• Containerisation - Kubernetes/Docker/Podman/Buildah
• CI/CD - Tekton/GitHub Actions/Harness/ArgoCD
• Security Controls Scanning - NexusIQ / Nexus Firewall / Nexus Lifecycle /Sonarqube
• Infrastructure as Code e.g. Chef, Terraform, Ansible
• ITIL or Service management experience
• Formal software development experience
• Agile work practices
• Linux or Windows admin
• Application Lifecycle Management
• Software Delivery Lifecycle
