Overview
A Personal Assistant is required to support a happy and sociable eight‑year‑old autistic girl with a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile, living in Troon. The role includes providing 1:1 support in the home and in the community, helping her access social opportunities and engage in activities that support her development.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support in the home and out in the community.
* Assist her in accessing social opportunities and activities that support her development.
* Support her to develop and build her independence and strengthen her social skills with other children her age.
* Encourage participation in fun, low‑pressure activities such as outdoor play, swimming (she cannot swim yet), riding bikes, and skating, while respecting her fear of dogs.
Qualifications
* Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people is essential.
* A full driving licence is desirable.
* Availability of three hours per week, with flexibility around when these hours are used, and weekend and school holiday availability is required.
* Will undergo an enhanced DBS check; the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.

* Rate of pay starts at £13.45 per hour.

Employment Details
* The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and will not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
