An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EC&I Designer to join a growing team delivering projects across the UK's gas and energy infrastructure sector.
Working on a range of technically challenging projects, you will be responsible for producing high-quality Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design deliverables throughout the full project lifecycle, from FEED and detailed design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce EC&I design documentation and drawings for industrial and infrastructure projects.
* Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), loop diagrams, cable schedules, instrument hook-ups, control panel layouts, hazardous area drawings, and associated design deliverables.
* Support the development of control philosophies, cause and effect matrices, instrument indexes, and equipment schedules.
* Review vendor documentation and incorporate package interfaces into project designs.
* Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, client meetings, and technical workshops.
* Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
About You
* HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Engineering Design, or a related discipline.
* Proven EC&I design experience within the gas, oil & gas, energy, utilities, or wider process industries.
* Strong understanding of hazardous area installations and safety-critical environments.
* Experience producing detailed design deliverables throughout the engineering lifecycle.
* Ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering specifications, and technical documentation.
* Experience producing Functional Design Specifications (FDS) would be advantageous.
Technical Skills
* Proficient in AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical.
* Knowledge of instrumentation systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, and control panel design.
* Familiarity with ATEX, DSEAR, IEC 60079, IEC 61511, and related industry standards.
* Experience with EPLAN or AVEVA Electrical & Instrumentation would be beneficial.
