Job overview The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest orthopaedic units in Europe providing a comprehensive range of surgical and non-surgical treatment. It is also a leading specialist centre for bone and soft tissue cancers and provides a regional spinal service. The pharmacy service has undergone a major service transformation with the relocation of the department to a newly refurbished space including a brand new Omnicell robot, trust wide EPMA and automation across all inpatient wards. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team in driving forward medicines management and clinical pharmacy projects within the Trust. This will involve joining multi-disciplinary ward rounds, contributing to the development of new medicines management and clinical guidelines, and providing support to deliver on national and regional quality indicators. Advert We are looking for a highly motivated individual with some evidence of post registration training and clinical experience. The ideal candidate will have good clinical skills and be keen to support innovative changes. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality and clinically robust service to wards and other clinical areas, with a focus on achieving clinical excellence. The position will also involve supporting the delivery of action plans relating to safety alerts and the teaching of Medicines Management to medical, nursing, pharmacy and other health care workers in the Trust by working with senior pharmacists. Detailed job description and main responsibilities. To be a clinical pharmacist to provide high quality pharmaceutical care to patients and their carers in the Trust by undertaking ward rounds and attending MDTs for surgical patients 2. To work closely with medicines management technicians to ensure the delivery of an integrated pharmacy service across the hospital 3. To develop expertise in using the Trust EPMA system and helping other users to improve medication reconciliation, prescribing, administration and discharge planning 4. To demonstrate and utilise clinical pharmacy knowledge through personal development. 5. To work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent care to all patients through specialist and consultant ward rounds, clinics and MDT meetings 6. To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service in-line with Trust objectives and values 7. Audit, monitor and develop medicines optimisation in line with pharmacy strategy aims and objectives 8. To work as an autonomous pharmacist within the appropriate clinical and professional guidelines in a managed environment ensuring that medicine use is safe and effective.
